Playoff Round (semi-finals)
(Game 1)
Team Canada 3 Slovakia 1
(Game 2) Czech Republic 3 Italy 1
Final
Team Canada 6 Czech Republic 1
Gold Team Canada
Silver Czech Republic
Bronze Slovakia
In a predictable final between the 2 best teams in the World, Team Canada kept on ransacking opponents with a 5 goal victory over the Czech Republic. Red Lite forwards Alexandre Burrows and Benoît Gilbert are said to have been Canada's best players during the championship game.
Team Canada have now won back to back World Championships at the expense of the Czech Republic. In 2001 (the last time the World Championships were held), team Canada defeated the Czechs 4-3 in overtime.
Canada reigns supreme in the Ball Hockey world!!!

The next WBHC will be held in Pittsburg (PA) in 2005
From: Ball Hockey Fan
I really think its great that other countries are taking its place in ball hockey, and maybe in 5 to 10 years from
now they might win a medal or two, but the reality of it all is that Canada, Slovakia and Czech
Republic are the only teams to look at. If you don't belive me, look at the stats, in the last 4 world championships
only these 3 countries took the gold, silver, and bronze. From the looks of this years tournament it seems that
these 3 teams will dominate over the rest. The other countries should create a stronger ball hockey program to
give these 3 teams a challange......
From : a guest
In every sport, there are periods, where one team dominates the others. But also Canada will lose sooner or later
and the Czechs or the Slovaks will win
Switzerland established clearly as Number. 4 in the World (I don't count Italy, because they don't have a league
there). And Switzerland beat Slovakia and played tie against the Czech Republic during the Last U18 European Championships.
Will still have a long way to go to be at the same level as the top three countries. But we will go this way, I
promise you
From: Ball Hockey Fan
I played with and against every single player on Team Canada, and I think that this year the staff and coach did
a great Job in selecting the team. Look at the stats, they already have 11 world champions, and they picked up
more younger faster players from Montreal who are leading the team with points...........now it would be nice to
see different players from different provinces take a role on the team, but why change what is already a success.
What upsets me is that they are holding back more talented players from Quebec and Toronto simply to please the
other less dominating provinces. Win some national Titles and then you can get your guys on the Roster. Only the
best should be on a world championship team, if that means you only take the players from 2 cities, so be it.
From : a guest
You are right, the WBHC website isn't really good and up-to-date. But the rest of the tournament was well organized.
And 2700 spectators during the final is very good, when you consider, that Switzerland wasn't participating. In
2001 in Toronto, there were only about 1500 spectators
From: a guest
I really don't think the European u18 cup is great anyway, what’s the point of the European cup anyway :to avoid
letting the Canadians and Americans in this tournament. The Swiss are not the fourth in the world, i would tell
you something that Canada, Italy, Pakistan, and Greece would be the top four teams if the Canadian players who
play in Canada all went to the world's. Watch the world's are in Pittsburgh in 2005 and the Swiss will not even
do as well as they did this tournament. Watch out for these teams, maybe the ISBHF needs to do something about
this but what really can they do if you have a citizenship from another country. Sorry man the Swiss are serious
SWISS CHEESE.
From: a guest
Hey you can't argue with success, and guys from all over Canada should be recognized but the teams that make it
to the semi-finals of the Canadians have a better shot of making team canada than a team that went 0-6. Normally
Montreal and Toronto have their teams in the final. Toronto has I think 5 players, and Montreal has 10 guys or
something like that, if not more.
From: The Mole
A lot of it may come down to cost of scouting players etc. If you play on a poor team you have to really shine
to stand out. Especially in a game where position and passing are so important. Even Gretzky couldn't set up some
guys...
The guys in Central Canada get seen more...but I see some Newfs on there, a New Brunswick’er and some guys from
the West...but aren't the guys from Ontario and Quebec on the best teams in the country playing in the best leagues?
It is always tough to push an incumbent off a team they are a proven commodity...and there is always someone who
thinks they should be there...
From: a guest
There are a lot of talented players in Canada. why not next time have a team from western Canada ( B.C. , Alberta,
Saskatchewan, Manitoba) and eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward
Island)
